Ballet Bootcamp
Uses ballet technique and dance conditioning excercises to lengthen strengthen and tone muscles. Participants will train like a dancer, sweat and explore the art of ballet.

Beginner Silks for Adults
Focus on building core and upper body strength. Learning various climbs and conditioning exercises using the aerial silks. A great way to get in serious shape quickly!

AFTERSCHOOL DANCE CLUB for children in Grades SK to 3 on FRIDAYS.
First session starts Jan 13th, 2012 and runs to March 2nd, 2012. The cost for this 8 week dance club is $120.00.
Dance club will run again after march break with two more sessions until June 2012.
Students will learn Hip Hop, Music Videos, Jazz, Silks and many other types of performance styles. They will also be given the opportunity to create with arts and crafts in making sets or props! Even better….Lead by Jason Vanstone, students will also be mentored by some of Artists’ Play’s senior dancers.

Youth performance company 2011 – 2012 season, runs from October 22nd to March 31st, 2012. The company will perform at a few events throughout the year plus have their own show at the Winchester St Theatre in March. Dancers will have the opportunity to work with established and exciting choreographers in Toronto. Dancers must make a full commitment to the season. All performance company holidays correlate with our school year.
Please speak with Elizabeth if you wish to sign-up. Must be 11 years or older, taking two classes a week.

After taking a break from the Cabaret scene, we are back with a high energy Cabaret, filled with debut performances of familiar artists doing new arts.

Artists’ Play …a Cabaret started in 2003 at Cervacaria Downtown. It was a successful showcase of 4 years. It proved to be a ground-breaking show for many artists that are now prominent in the Toronto performing arts scene. After a small break Artists’ Play is proud to be putting the show on again in it’s new homes and provide new performance opportunities to the Toronto performance arts scene.

New Space for Artists/Fitness Opens in February
Artists’ Play is opening a second studio space just upstairs from StudioElevenTwelve at Dundas and Logan!
Artists’ Play School of Dance operates out of and is a collective member of StudioElevenTwelve. With growing dance classes and need for more rehearsal space in the Leslieville area we are jumping in! But we need to share!! We only use half of our available time and are looking for responsible renters to share our beautiful space!

Sarah Murphy-Dyson
Guest Choreographer – Youth Company

Sarah Murphy-Dyson is a Gemini Award winning actor, writer, dancer and singer.
She was a First Soloist with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet for nine seasons before joining the original cast of the hit musical Dirty Dancing (Mirvish), as she transitioned into acting onstage and onscreen.
Currently, she can be seen in various national television commercials and recently performed her solo show, The Naked Ballerina at the Toronto Fringe, for which she garnered rave reviews, including ‘Outstanding Performance” by Now Magazine.
Besides acting and writing, Sarah has been the stunt double for actors, Kate Beckinsale, Jaime King and Milla Jovovich, she has worked as Associate Director on various projects, including, ‘Larger Than Life-The Musical’ and ‘Mamma’s Boy’ for Ghostlight Projects at the Factory Studio, ‘Live at the Met’ which featured the casts of Dirty Dancing, Sound of Music, We Will Rock You, Jersey Boys, and Second City and she has choreographed for stage and screen. In 2005, she coached Jennifer Lopez in ‘Shall We Dance?’.
Theatre Credits include: ‘Penny Johnson’ and ensemble in Dirty Dancing (Mirvish), Enter a Free Man (MTC Stoppardfest), Die Fleidermaus (Manitoba Opera), The Blue Room, Karla and Grif (U of W), and performances throughout the world with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
Film credits include: The Assassination of Jesse James, Whiteout, Clear Lake, Nureyev, Shall We Dance?, Leaving, Dracula, Pages from a Virgin’s Diary, and the Tale of the Magic Flute (Gemini Award – Best Performance).

Jennifer Fell
Instructor – Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet & Silks
Jennifer Fell received her professional dance training at George Brown College. She has been living and working as an independent artist in Toronto since 2001.
She has performed with such companies as Circus Orange, A2D2 Aerial Dance, LaRouge Entertainment, Koba Family Entertainment, La Belle Danse Baroque Company, Blue Ceiling Dance, and Goodness Gracious Fire Dancers.
Jennifer began teaching Ballet, Modern and Jazz at the Morée School of Dance. She has taught classes for Artists Play, The Swansea School of Dance, Turning Point Academy, George Brown College, Leslieville 80′s Babies, and is a Coach at Centre of Gravity Circus.
Rehearsal Director for the George Brown Dance Performance Ensemble since 2005, Jennifer also represents Ballet Jörgen Canada as Rehearsal Director for various youth casts in The Group of Seven Nutcracker.
Having toured to Barbados, Dubai, Bahrain, across America and Canada, Jennifer is happy to be home sharing the love of dance and aerial with all those eager to learn.

A class focused on bringing creative play to the next level. Students begin to learn more in-depth combinations with focus on basic ballet technique and gaining strength and agility.

Christmas Tree Lighting – Dec 11th, 2010
Artists’ Play is proud to be involved with Riverside’ BIA’s Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec 11, 2010.
We are performing twice at the lighting. Once at 5:40pm and again at 6:20pm. Please note we are showcasing different classes at both times.
It’s all happening in front of the Mustard Seed at Queen & Saulter.

The Modern Move for Adults resumes January 6th, 2011
Register Now!!
Using the styles of Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern, and Contemporary. This Fun adult class is guaranteed to get you moving with confidence. Focusing on mobility and well being of our bodies while heightening our own energy through movement.
Access power through movement by strengthening your core and mobilizing your joints and limbs . Each class has a basic warm up which leads us to fun and energizing combinations which are repeated each week in it’s particular part. Free movement and structured improvisation will be explored throughout the session.
Just cause we care there is a 1/2 hour stretch class that follows and is included in the price!
Price: $190.00 includes hst.
Classes are on Thursdays 7:15pm to 8:30pm
Dana Bondy
Guest Choreographer – Lyrical Jazz
Dana’s training began in Fort Erie ON, at Peacock School of Dance where she became a principal dancer and instructor. Her love of dance and passion to perform led her to Toronto where she attended George Brown College and graduated with a certificate from the Performing Arts Program
Upon graduation from George Brown, Dana trained and performed with Jazz and Hip Hop companies, “Thrive” and the “Honeykats”. She has also received international recognition traveling in Japan as dance captain and performing at Huistenbosch Dutch Resort. Further Credits Include – I’m A Soulman (Da Blooze Bros), The Spiegel Show (LuminaTO), Hank and Mike (Darius Films), Stardust Follies Musical Review (Diamond Entertainment), Vegas Live (777 Entertainment) Sports Celebrity Fundraiser (TSN), Fashion Cares (2005), Moulin Rouge and West Side Story (PWA Foundation) as well as numerous Toronto industrials.
Dana continues training with ‘Creative Habitat’, a contemporary dance company for Social Change, whose works have been showcased for the Premiere of “Women in Dance” and “Talent Defined” and working closely performing for Toronto Sick Kids Hospital. She is also a featured performer and dance captain with Les Coquettes Cabaret Troupe, with performances in support of Opera Nation, Rethink Breast Cancer and Boys Night Out.
Dana is also a much sought after Choreographer whose credits include, The Weight of Tradition (Three Eagles Prod.) and Twilight Express (Bravofact).

Free Children’s Halloween Dancing at “Take a Walk on The Riverside”
Join Artists’ Play Dance Theatre as we brew up some fun Halloween dances at Mustard Seed between 11am and 3pm for children of all ages!

A great start to the year!
One thing I am very proud of is to be in the community I am in. I am quite enthralled with each and every family who is a part of Artists’ Play Dance Theatre.
This past week was our first week to dance classes at the studio and I am very happy to see so many familiar faces along with new ones. My how everyone has grown!
All the dancers are excited to be getting stronger and faster as am I to see them as they leap into the 09/10 season with confidence.

Artists’ Play… a Cabaret! A show, a party, a time and place to enjoy! Featuring performances from A.P.D.T.’s upcoming fringe show “HeartSurge” as well as guest performers from actors, comedians to dancers and poets. A short dance lesson to kick off the night and a band to get you up and on your feet after you have been thoroughly entertained!
